Il 21 giugno ad Helsinki, Finlandia, è stata eletta nell’ambito del Congresso Internazionale BPW la nuova presidente internazionale, l’australiana Freda Miriklis, che precedentemente aveva ricoperto nel board internazionale la carica di segretaria e vicepresidente.

Message from Liz Benham, Immediate Past International President
Dear Members of the International Board of directors:
This is my last official communication to the International Board of Directors as we now have our new elected International President, Freda Miriklis who continues on with the day to day functioning and leadership of our organization.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Federation and Associate club presidents for your commitment and diligence during this last term in the close collaboration with the president’s office.
Managing our international organization effectively requires good systems and processes and engagement of all the stakeholders and therefore the provision of needed and requested information, voting responses, dues payments and communications has been most appreciated.
It has been an honor and great privilege to work with and get to know you all.
I am extremely proud of our accomplishments this past term and of the standing of BPW International on the international platform.
I wish our new Executive much success, motivation and energy as they continue under the vision and leadership of our president Freda.
They have my full support and I know that the international board will join me in that commitment.
I look forward to seeing you all in future travels and working together building on the BPW International initiatives and our president ‘s new triennial theme:

Messaggio della Presidente Freda Miriklis
E’ un onore speciale iniziare il mio periodo come la più giovane presidente della International Federation of Business and Professional Women- BPW International- specialmente mentre stiamo celebrando oltre 80 anni di impegno per l’empowerment delle donne in tutto il mondo.
Sono molto grata per la fiducia e la confidenza che mi avete dimostrato facendomi succedere ad Elizabeth Benham (Liz) ed esprimo la mia sincera gratitudine a tutte, specialmente alle mie predecessore per tutti i loro consigli ed incoraggiamenti.Liz si merita un enorme grazie da tutte noi – per aver guidato l’organizzazione così abilmente e per averci lasciato un ufficio internazionale modernizzato, che intende produrre risultati tangibili per le nostre socie ed affiliate. Fortunatamente Liz continuerà il suo servizio nel Comitato Esecutivo per un anno quale Immediata Past Presidente
Ella è stata una leader eccesionale, un fantastico modello da seguire ed io mi aspetto con gratitudine di appoggiarmi ai suoi saggi consigli durante il mio termine.
Ringrazio tutti coloro che mi hanno fatto le loro congratulazioni ed espresso il loro incoraggiamento dopo la mia elezione. Non ho avuto il tempo di rispondere a tutti questi messaggi e lo faccio collettivamente, assicurando loro il mio profondo apprezzamento.
L’eredità delle past Presidenti, dei Comitati Esecutivi, del Consiglio direttivo, delle Responsabili delle Commissioni Permanenti e delle Taskforces, le Rappresentanti alle Nazioni Unite, lo staff e le socie volontarie hanno contribuito a questa meravigliosa organizzazione che è oggi la BPW International, nel 2011.
E un privilegio guidare la BPW International con questo Comitato Esecutivo di talento: La Vice Presidente,NU – Huguette Akplogan Dossa (Benin); la Seconda Vice Presidente per il Proselitismo Jill Worobec (Canada); la Segretaria Esecutiva Dott Yasmin Darwich (Messico); la Direttrice Finanziaria Geva Murano, la Rappresentante delle Giovani BPW Anastasia Victoria Safarian (USA) e le Coordinatrici per l’Africa -Adenike Adeyanju-Osadolor (Nigeria); Asia e Pacifico- Susan Jones (Australia); Europa –Sabine Schmelzer, (Svizzera); America Latina –Maria Elvira Salles Ferreira (Brasile) e Nord America –Bessie Hironimus (USA).
Come vostra nuova Presidente, mi sento umile per essere associata con questa meravigliosa collezione di talenti che fanno la ricchezza della nostra organizzazione. Insieme, abbiamo la opportunità di costruire un’organizzazione più forte capitalizzando su quanto abbiamo compiuto in passato e guardando alle opportunità future.
I prossimi tre anni che ci porteranno al XXVIII Congresso Internazionale di Jeju, Corea, passeranno troppo presto. Il tema del triennio “Donne empowered guidano gli affari” fornirà alle Commissioni Permanenti ed alle Taskforces un approccio focalizzato e la nostra immediata attenzione per trovare i gruppi di lavoro giusti per il triennio.I cambiamenti sono qui e se voi volete servire l’organizzazione vi invito ad entrare in una commissione e condividere la nostra visione rinnovata.
Poiché iniziamo il viaggio verso i prossimi 80 anni sono sicura che ci saranno molte di voi che desiderano unirsi a noi e condividere la strutturazione della BPW International ed i nostri sforzi per di portare molte donne negli affari.
Le donne BPW sono Donne Empowered che guidano gli affari nella comunità ad ogni livello e dal vertice.
Nel 2014, avremo molto da celebrare a JEJU – perciò fate in modo da essere parte delle nostre conquiste!

It is a special honor to begin my term as the youngest president of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women – BPW International – especially at this juncture where we celebrate over 80 years of commitment to the worldwide empowerment of women.
I am deeply humbled by the trust and confidence placed in me to succeed Elizabeth Benham (Liz) and express my sincere gratitude to all, especially my predecessor for all her guidance and encouragement. Liz deserves an enormous thank you from all of us — for guiding the organisation so ably and for leaving us with a modernised international office that has a real focus on delivering measurable outcomes for our members and affiliates. Luckily, for all of us, Liz will continue to serve the Executive Board for an additional year, in the role of immediate past-president. She has been a an exceptional leader terrific role model, and I am especially grateful that I will be able to rely on her wise counsel during my term.
I would like to express my deep thanks to those who have congratulated me, expressed support and encouragement since my election. I have not had time to reply to each of these messages, and I do so now collectively, assuring each of you that I am deeply appreciative.
The legacy of past Presidents, Executive Boards, Board of Directors, Chairs and members of standing committees and taskforces, UN Representatives, staff and member volunteers is the wonderful organisation that is BPW International in 2011.
It is a privilege to lead BPW International with an exceptionally talented Executive Board. First Vice President, UN – Huguette Akplogan Dossa (Bénin); Second Vice President, Membership – Jill Worobec (Canada); Executive Secretary – Dr. Yasmin Darwich (Mexico); Finance Director – Geva Murano (Australia); Young BPW Representative – Anastasia Victoria Safarian (USA) and Regional Coordinators for AFRICA – Adenike Adeyanju-Osadolor (Nigeria); ASIA PACIFIC – Susan Jones (Australia); EUROPE – Sabine Schmelzer (Switzerland); LATIN AMERICA – Maria Elvira Salles Ferreira (Brazil) and NORTH AMERICA – Bessie Hironimus (USA).
As your new president, I am truly humbled to be associated with the amazing collection of talent that makes up our organisation’s rich membership. Together, we have the opportunity to build an even stronger organization by capitalizing on our past accomplishments and recognizing the opportunities ahead.
The next three years leading up to the XXVIII BPW International Congress in Jeju, Korea, will pass all too quickly. The triennium theme of Empowered Women Leading Business will give our Standing Committees and Taskforces a focused approach and our immediate attention turns to finding the right teams for the triennium. Changes are a foot and if you would like to serve our organisation, I would like to invite you to nominate for one of our committees and be a part of our renewed vision.
As we start the journey of the next 80 years I am confident that there will be many who will want to join us and share in the shaping of BPW International and our efforts to bring the voice of women to business. Our sub themes position affiliates to capture every aspect of economic power. BPW women are Empowered Women Leading Business in the community, at all levels and from the top.
Come 2014, we will have much to celebrate in Jeju – so make sure you are a part of our achievements!
